Lloyd Griffith: Baroque and Roll

New date: September 25

Fresh from supporting Jack Whitehall on his 2023 UK arena tour, comedian Lloyd Griffith is back with a brand new show ‘Baroque and Roll’. It’s a big year for Lloyd, he’s turning 40 and with it, the impending midlife crisis – or ‘renaissance’ as he’s insisting it’s called; complete with body hair removal, head hair additions, teeth whitening and obviously the obligatory half marathon sign-up.

It’ll be funny and yes, there’ll be the odd song or two from that magnificent voice of his.

As seen on Ted Lasso (Apple), Nolly (ITV), Soccer AM (RIP), 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Can you beat the bookies (BBC), Live at The Comedy Store (Comedy Central), House of Games (BBC).

‘What is evident from the outset is that Griffith is both bursting with talent. He is a funny, charming, self-effacing comic who very obviously gains great joy from making people laugh. It is evident in the way he feeds off the audience’ – joe.co.uk

‘Useful idiot’ – the guardian

‘Lloyd bounces off the audience and has everyone laughing along with him. This is an hour of uplifting stand-up that’ll have you smiling for days. A warm, relatable and hilarious show’ – The Sunday Post

Paul F Taylor: Head In The Clouds

Paul F Taylor has been a man that has always thrown himself to the gods of chaos.

Growing up; people often accused him of having his head in the clouds. With recently being diagnosed with ADHD; it’s little wonder that he’s not had his feet on the ground.

And now Paul questions his place in this world of distractions that is seemingly not built for people like him. As a new father he’s learning the hard way, having something that demands him to keep his focus, when he can’t, isn’t easy. Yet in this very serious world, Paul makes his case that we now and again, can very much do with having our Head In The Clouds by airlifting audiences into a world of whimsy.

Paul has appeared on Harry Hill’s Nite Club on Channel 4 and also the award winning BBC Radio 4 sketch show Please Use Other Door. He was nominated for best new show at the Leicester Comedy Festival 2017, and won the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year Award in 2013.

As an actor and writer, he has starred in many comedy short films that have won critical acclaim and awards on the festival circuit as a long time collaborator with the two time BAFTA nominated director Ben Mallaby; in films such as Milk, Battlecock! and Guilt Trip and his latest film Bleep by Ben Hyland being selected my multiple BIFA and BAFTA qualifying film festivals.

Along with his wife Rebecca Shorrocks, he is one half of sketch duo Short & Curly who enjoyed mass critical success at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as being nominated for Best Character and Sketch Act in the Chortle Awards.

Kevin Precious – The Reluctant Teacher

Teachers! No-one understands you, right? You’ve got the kids, the parents, the head? If you didn’t laugh, you’d cry. KEVIN PRECIOUS got out. After years of teaching, he lived to tell the hilarious tale – actually LOTS of hilarious tales.

He enjoyed the teaching part. He just didn’t enjoy all of the other stuff that went with it. So he decided to leave and get his life back.

Join him as he explores the foibles of his former profession including the odd pedagogical swipe (phew!) in the process.

Teachers are exiting the profession in droves. Dissatisfaction with the ridiculous levels of paperwork and accountability, an overly-prescribed and increasingly narrow curriculum, and the foibles associated with the ever-advancing Academy system; all proferred as reasons. All of this subject matter finds its way into Kevin’s new show, ‘The Reluctant Teacher’. Of course, There will also be plenty of lighter stuff based around the day-to-day experiences of being a teacher to ensure things don’t become overwrought.

Here are some of the things other teachers, and teaching bodies said about Kevin’s previous teaching show:

‘Highly entertaining for teachers and non-teachers alike. Funny, witty, nicely cynical – and only occasionally Not Appropriate. This is for those old enough to sit inside the staff room.’ – Fiona Moss, Executive Officer NATRE National Association Teachers of Religious Education

‘I booked Kevin for him to deliver his ‘Not Appropriate’ gig to our whole staff team at our recent INSET. Kevin was appropriately funny and the staff quickly warmed to the event. Staff mentioned after that it was the best INSET ever. SLT said it was good too. As for Kevin, it is a real testimony to Kevin’s ability as a comedian he had us in stitches and the way he ad-libs and feeds off the audience is amazing. I would definitely re book Kevin for future events.’ – Julie Bellamy West Heath School, Sevenoaks

‘Using all his years of experience, Kevin had our teacher’s eating out of the palm of his hand. His uncanny observations of both students and teachers had the audience in raptures.

‘If you are a teaching agency that is bored of just inviting their teachers to the pub at the end of term and want to put on a show; Kevin provides the ideal act. It allows you to have a theme for your event, shows you care, as you want to do just more than buy them a drink, and most importantly, everyone has a ruddy good laugh.’ – Marios Georgiou, Chairman Step Teachers Ltd

‘Instantly recognisable stage presence and boundless wit’ (Leicester Mercury).

‘Kevin’s stage charisma and poise set him head and shoulders above the previous acts’ (Times).
