Henning Wehn: Acid Wehn

Award-deserving German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn takes an unbiased look at climate change, a topic sure to delight audiences and no surprise. After all, everyone loves talking about the weather.

16 Years of The Inbetweeners: In Conversation with Joe Thomas

We’re talking all things The Inbetweeners at this special evening with actor/comedian Joe Thomas.

It wasn’t long after audiences were first introduced to hapless sixth-formers Will McKenzie, Neil Sutherland, Jay Cartright and Simon Cooper that The Inbetweeners became one of the nation’s best loved shows. With its endlessly quotable lines and outrageous laugh-per-second banter, the sitcom attracted record-breaking viewing figures and inspired two incredibly successful feature films.

Celebrating seventeen years since the show’s debut, Joe Thomas aka Simon Cooper is here in-conversation all about the series and taking questions from the audience. Hearing all about Joe’s favourite Inbetweeners moments and behind the scenes misadventures, as well as its impact on his own life as an actor/comedian, this promises to be an exciting evening of humour and insight from one of the nation’s best loved young sitcom stars.

We’ll also, of course, be touching on Joe’s other work, including Fresh Meat, White Gold and TaskMaster!

Joe is happy to stay around for a short while after the show, meet fans and take pictures.

HOMEWORK

Circa 2007, Joe Thomas was a budding actor/writer headed for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival alongside university writing partner, Simon Bird. While performing their two-man show The Meeting, the pair were spotted by Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, TV producers who were developing an as-then untitled E4 sitcom about four hapless sixth-formers, chronicling their various misadventures.

Later titled The Inbetweeners, the series went on to become Channel 4’s most-watched show ever, winning a Rose D’or for Best Situation Comedy and spawning two feature films, the first of which broke records for having the most successful opening weekend for a comedy film in the UK.

So come along, bring your friends (ooh, friends!), and enjoy an evening of hilarity and insight into the nation’s best loved teen sitcom from one of its key stars.

..if more modern comedians had a fraction of his showmanship, the circuit would be a jollier place …spot on delivery… bulletproof professionalism” Chortle

Bobby Davro says: “With the laughter still ringing in my ears from the month of Edinburgh gigs, I thought I’d take the show on the road and catch up with my fans around the country. So if you like to laugh, come along – and don’t forget, if you’re on the frontline, you’re in the punchline!

Over the past four decades, Bobby Davro has appeared on a huge variety of television shows, his popularity was at its highest during the mid-1980s with his own Saturday night ITV shows, Bobby Davro on the Box, Bobby Davro’s TV Annual and Bobby Davro’s TV Weekly.

Josh Berry: Best Man

It’s clear what toxic masculinity is, but what does positive masculinity look like in a modern context?

Josh Berry intends to provide some sort of answer to this question, through his many impressions and characters, as he tells the tale of being his best friend’s best man earlier this year.

From routines on how to organise a ‘progressive stag do’, to the amusing difficulties men seem to face around positive emotional expression, the show is an opportunity for us to have a ruddy good laugh at a concept that could do with being taken a bit less seriously.

There’s also a routine about how much Josh hates runners and refuses to become one.

N.B. Josh has since entered a half marathon.

Jonny Cole: Armagudd’n

EXTRA DATE ADDED DUE TO PHENOMENAL DEMAND

Champion of the Black Country, Jonny Cole is one of the most unique, exciting and hilariously funny acts to come out of the Black Country and unstoppable force in musical comedy.

Comparisons to Jasper Carrott and Tim Minchin (depending on the reviewers age) tell only half the story.

One of the freshest and funniest new comedians to hit the comedy circuit in the last few years. Jonny Cole is packing out comedy clubs everywhere.

With his individual patter and commentary on life, coupled with his original songs, he is being described as a ‘breath of fresh air’. Never forgetting his ‘Black Country’ roots Jonny has written original songs about life, love and loss (his Xbox) with hilarious results.

Scott Bennett

Back by popular demand after two sell-out shows at the Gatehouse.

As a society we love stuff, it’s a statement about who we are and who we want to be. But apparently, this message is at odds with the looming environmental crisis.

We’re now struggling to balance these worlds, to focus on the things that bring us real connections and nourish the soul.

Award-winning Comedian and Award-winning Product Designer, Scott Bennett is desperately trying to cleanse his life of stuff, but is this even possible anymore?

Tour support for Mickey Flanagan, Rob Brydon Jason Manford, and John Bishop. The star of Live at the Apollo, The News Quiz, The Now Show, The Ultimate Choice and Chortle Best Club Comedian Nominee 2022.

“Brilliantly funny, a joy to watch” Chris Ramsey

“Bennett is a stand-up in fine control of his material, his delivery and his image, a masterclass in adding a frisson of ‘in the moment’ unpredictability to otherwise tightly written routines” Chortle
